Triangle is usually a mix of un-hulled & hulled Penkoted® seeds.
PENKOTED seed have been coated (treated) with a green colored
liquid seed coating material containing a specific fungicide, a natural
insecticide and a growth stimulant. These ingredients then dry on the
seed and are time-released into the soil as needed once the seed are
planted. The coating helps protect each seedling from soil born diseases
and insects. The coating also makes the seeds less attractive to birds.
PENKOTED
is a registered trademark of Pennington Seed, Inc. The process uses an
exclusive treatment which protects the seed in the ground and assists in
the development of a healthy plant.
Lawns
established from PENKOTED seed enjoy a faster start, stronger
stand, greater plant survival and more drought tolerance due to deeper
root growth. |

Tall Fescue

This warm season
perennial from South America was imported into the Southern USA states over 70+
years ago.
Tall Fescue's Advantages are:
Easy to start from seed.
High disease and insect resistance.
Survives in a variety of soils from
sandy to clays.
Grows well on infertile, dry soils.
Withstands close grazing and traffic
wear.
Grows thick enough to compete with
weeds.
With proper care & fertilizer, Bahia
creates a beautiful light green lawn.
Responds well to nitrogen applications -
creating darker green color.
Bahia's Disadvantages are:
Prolific seed head production during
growing season.
Somewhat open growth habit over time
(thinning out).
Coarse texture.
Not suitable for high PH soils.
Not suitable for high shade areas -
Performs best in full sun.
Low tolerance to many weed control
post-emergence herbicides.
Susceptible to lack of iron, causing
yellow color in spring & fall.
TRANSITION ZONE - SOUTH
Used for lower input
lawns, roadside stabilization & pastures:
Planted from transition zone south - Texas to North Carolina to Florida - Zones
9&10. Narrow blade with attractive green leaves. Used extensively for pasture
and erosion control throughout the Southern states. Much more winter hardy
than Argentine Bahia. Good Drought resistance with a deep root system.
Very good environmentally friendly grass. Saves on your water
requirements. Best for full sun areas as shade tolerance is limited. Over time
thins out in lawn situations and should be reseeded annually to maintain
density.
PENSACOLA Bahiagrass seed

Centipede Grass
This creeping perennial
is well adapted to the sandy, acidic soils of low fertility and requires low
maintenance. It spreads by stolons and has a coarse texture with short upright
stems that grow to about 3-5 inches and requiring less mowing, survives in mild
cold temperatures as long as there aren’t several hard freezes since it doesn’t
go into a true dormancy and with light freezes will turn brown but as soon as
the temperature rises it will recover and re-greens.

Being a low growing grass
it is a favorite of busy lawn growers with a much longer period of days being
added to the mowing cycle. Low fertilization (with low phosphorus) requirements
can be met by a yearly application. Too much nitrogen can produce growth but
cause problems with insects or disease. Centipede is rather drought tolerant and
when healthy is aggressive enough to choke out weeds and other grasses. In
the south this grass will remain green throughout the year. Although the
roots are not as deep as Bahia or Bermuda, its close to the ground growth allows
for better conservation of water and helps fight drought. Slightly shade
tolerant and full sun.
